I have three beautiful Siberian Irises that are currently in the bed that is to become devoted to herbs only. My questions have to do with transplanting them. These beauties bloom in the Spring, and slowly die back. Currently, they are dead brown stems and seem to be dormant.
Is this the time to transplant them? And since I had such great success with soaking caladium corms in compost tea before I planted them - does anyone recommend doing something like that to iris rhizomes before transplantation?
I am going to put them with some other spring bloomers like tulips, daffodils, and grape hyacinths.

Irises are best moved and divided in late summer, but if you move them in spring, do it as early as possible, before they've grown too big. Irises tend to be aggressive growers and heavy feeders. Usually, they need to be divided every three years or so. If moving them in the spring, avoid small divisions so that the plant is not too greatly disturbed. Otherwise, they might not produce blooms.
