CAN ANYONE HELP ME?

I have a plant I believe to be tropical with dark green glossy leaves with white veins. When in bloom it has a bright yellow cone type flower. I am having a problem with the leaves turning dark from the edges inward from the bottom of the plant up. It's almost looks burned. It is kept indoors and only watered as it starts to become dry. It has not had any type of non-organic products on it. Any ideas would be appreciated...

Would it be possible to post a picture of the plant to give us an idea of what it looks like?

No unfortunatly I don't have the capability at this time. The dark areas are actually nearly black and crispy to the touch while the remainder of the leaf appears to be healthy until it falls off about 2 weeks later.
