I live in the North Texas area and have 2 very large tomatillo plants that are about 4+ ft. tall with over 100 blooms. The problem is the blooms have been there for weeks but the plants have yet to produce any fruit. I'm using pepper tea to repel the bugs and also using Garrett Juice several times a week. Overall the plants appear to be very healthy except for the lack fruit. Any thought?

That seems to be the status of tomato plants this year, so I'm not surprised. If you will give the plants a good shake every now and then that will hope. They're less likely to set fruit when it stays hot over night, but maybe with cooler temperatures this week you'll get a few. Howard recommends using an old tennis racket to bop the plants.

Northwesterner, thought you would be interested in knowing that your (Howard's) tennis racket suggestion appears to working. I have several tomatillo ' s in the early growth stage. Now if I could get the entire plant to follow the lead that would be great! Thanks again.

Same here. I'm putting in a fall crop soon, pulling out the non-productive plants. I need to visit a thrift store and buy me a tennis racket!

No tennis racket needed. Just shake the plant.
