I would assume it has a shelf life, but do not know what it is. Here is the Bonide (makers of Thuricide) customer service email address.

customerservice@bonide.com

I hope this helps.

Ok, so, I am in the process of trying to find the answer to your question and I found out that there are different varieties of BT that are good at killing different things. HUH! Learn something new everyday! Here is that website if you wanna see: http://gardenline.usask.ca/pests/bt.html

Hmmm, I'm not having any luck finding the answer either. All my bottle says is to store upright away from kids and pets.

Best of luck to ya - let me know if you find out anything, okay?

Since Nadine says to spray BT for the caterpillars, on tomatoe and other garden plants, would it be a good idea to add a few drops or maybe an ounce to a gallon of compost tea for folair feeding? When I folair feed I completely cover the plants, top and bottom of leaves. I have not purchased the BT yet, so I don't know the application rate.

PS: Thanks Nadine for letting me know that folair feeding during rain is a good time. I was outside this morning feeding the new trees and grass.

DRK,

BT is fairly inert so time is not very important. Most important is to keep it at room temperature rather than store the BT in a hot garage or shed. The toxin is fairly heat stable but there is no reason to challenge it.

I keep it in my garden shed where it gets cold in Winter and hot in Summer. I usually don't go through it fast because I don't usually need it. So far, it has held up fine. I used some for webworms a couple of years ago that had been sitting for a couple of years. It still worked fine.

BT is not a toxin. It is a bacteria that just happens to be toxic to certain critters. Just like salt water is toxic to goldfish.

I have no idea what happens to it over a hard freeze, for example, in an unheated garden shed. It's so cheap that I use mine up each fall. Then I do not have to worry.
