We have ants that look just like the old time red ant, but they have a colony of mounds that are about 1 to 1.5 ft. tall and completely cover an area approximately 10 ft. x 7 ft. with some stragglers venturing out away from the big group of mounds. I do not what kind of ant they are, but they look just like a big red ant, but are not aggressive. Any help would be appreciated in both identification and control methods. Thank You.

As for control methods, you may need more biodiversity. Is this in a monoculture situation? Also, improving the soil may be another factor worth looking into. You can put down dry molasses from 10-20 lbs per 1000 square feet.
