I've got a lot full of Live Oaks and Cedar Elms (south Arlington), on a 3/4 acre lot. The soil seems fairly compacted, and I would like to know what is the most feasible and least expensive way of aerating the trees. By lot full I mean 40+ trees, that all seem to age in range from 10-30+ years old.

Also, for trees of this age, what is a proper watering regime? Especially with the weather lately, I've been noticing a lot of leaves dropping (no limbs turning brown), but I do see quite a few "drops" from the various trees.

Thanks for any advice!

Hi folks -

Was curious what the group thought of deep root irrigation, such as using the Ross Root irrigator?

I heard this will also help aerate and loosen compact soil.

Thoughts?
