I am a gardener in El Paso, TX. I recently acquired a position where there are DOZENS of dead trees on the premises. RoundUp has been broadcast over the entire site for 2-3 years in a row!! I suspect herbicide damage, but how can I tell for sure?

If trees on surrounding properties in the area are alive and appear to be doing fine then you probably have answered your own question. :( What type of trees are (were) they? Oh, and welcome to The Natural Way!

Time for a serious detox of the site.

I'd recommend some Norit or another charcoal used for horticultural purposes. That will help arrest the toxins. Also in addition or if you cannot find the charcoal, get Zeolite. Same reason- arrests toxins, makes them degradable.

Follow up with some horticultural molasses. That will jump-start the soil microbes and bring them back from the brink.

Switch to organic fertilizers and follow Howard's general organic program and the soil should come back to life. Then you can set about planting smoe new well-adapted or native trees.
