I bought a palm tree at an estate sale. It is about 4 feet tall. The root ball is above the dirt about 6 inches. Should I repot it and does the root ball need to be above the dirt?

Repotting a plant/tree deeper adn deeper with each repotting is one of the most common ways a person accidentally kills their plant. You may want a larger pot, that's fine, but don't bury it any deeper, unless there's a lot of roots exposed.
