:?: We have just cleared our river bank and would like to keep it this way
the grapevines and briars were so thick we had to cut down some of the trees to be able to clear the land. We would like to know how to keep them from coming back and what is the best grass to plant to prevent wash.
Thank You

well I hate to say this... and please don't anyone hammer me for this response.. but I own some property near rockport.. we bought some additional lots... clearing out the grapes and briars is a major undertaking... I can tell you what worked for me the best... scalp them to the ground... let them resprout... the briars you can spray as quickly as you start to see new fresh growth... they have an incredible root system and are very aggressive.. when it resprouts,,, hit it again ..... and again... eventually you can kill it... the grapes are even tougher sometimes... I have had the most success by letting them resprout and grow to about 3 feet.. then wrap all the branches up into a ball and expose the underside of the leaves... spray them... they will die.... and resprout.. do the same thing..... eventually you can kill them....

now the controversy... I used both the orange oil and vinegar mix and I also used some roundup... I hated to do it.. but between the two of them I got it all killed... I actually think that the roundup killed it better but I would only use it on tough cases...
