The SPCA of Texas’ Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center is open for adoptions every day from noon to 6:00 PM. Animals are available by walk-in on a first-come, first-served basis. Appointments are also available for select animals. Animals at the Jan Rees-Jones building don’t need an appointment. Please browse available animals at spca.org/findapet and visit spca.org/dogadopt to inquire about a dog or spca.org/catadopt to inquire about a cat.

These adult dogs and adult cats are at the SPCA of Texas’ Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Dr, 75212). The adoption fee for adult dogs and adult cats is $100, and the adoption fee for puppies and kittens under the age of 6 months, is $175. Fees include spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older, initial flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of MetLife Insurance, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a rabies tag, free collar and leash, and a free engraved tag.

Adoption fees for our Senior Sweethearts—pets age 6 and older—are FREE for everyone.

Adoption fees for our Longtime Lovables—pets who have been in the shelter more than 60 days—are FREE for everyone.

Humans age 60 and older, can adopt any shelter pet, no matter their age, for free.

Looking for a new home: Darwin

Meet Darwin, almost two-years-old who has been at the SPCA for more than 60 days. He’s a 52-pound mixed breed pooch who is gentle and curious. He wants to be around people but patience is recommended – it takes him a minute to trust people he meets. Once he knows you, he is devoted. Still looking for a new home: Applesauce

Meet Applesauce, a four-year-old Lab mix with a smooth tan coat and dark soulful eyes. She likes to play with other dogs, is great on a leash, loves to play and loves to cuddle. At 57 pounds she is energetic and curious but also a big cuddler, and having been at the shelter for more that 60 days, she is an SPCA of Texas Longtme Lovable—a pet who has been in the shelter more than 60 days—Applesauce’s adoption fee is FREE. Still looking for a new home: Falcon

Meet Falcon, a 46-pound pit mix who is at one year old is a big pup. This pooch is friendly and gentle yet active and needs a place to recover from surgery before he can officially be adopted. He will need to return to the shelter for a recheck during that recovern, and the SPCA of Texas will provide the care he needs. As a foster-to-adopt animal all of his supplies and food will be provided by the SPCA. Email foster@spca.org to discuss fostering Falcon. And when his recovery is complete, if you wish to adopt him his fee will be free, because as a SPCA Longtime Lovable – an animal who has been there for more than 60 days – his fee is free. Meet Tyson, a gentle 8-year-old male terrier mix. He is 51 pounds of friendly pooch and as an SPCA of Texas Senior Sweetheart—a pet age six or older—Tyson’s adoption fee is free. This sweetheart loves attention, is friendly and curious, and needs a soft place to land. Meet Thor, a seven-year-old 72-pound gorgeous German Shepherd dog mix. He is great with people and other dogs, he enjoys walks and is good on a leash. Meet Andie, a 3-year-old hound mix who is great with kids and other dogs, loves rides in the car and is geat on a leash. This calm pooch is undergoing heartworm treatment so for the time being she needs a foster-to-adopt situation. During her recovery, she’ll need a calm home where she can embrace her new role as a professional couch potato! Andie’s exercise is limited to leisurely leash walks while she heals, and her foster family will simply bring her back to the SPCA of Texas for scheduled veterinary appointments. Fostering a pet with the SPCA of Texas is FREE! We provide all the food, toys, medication, collars, leashes, etc. All you provide is the love!

Meet Wolfie, a 1-year-old mixed breed goofy male who is playful, affectionate, great on a leash, and loves people. He knows the command “sit,” and is eager to learn. His brindle coat is beautiful and this big pup has a laughing smile (and a love of water, as you see in his profile photo)! This adventurous pooch would be great for an active family.
