Grass – FESCUE, TALL

Festuca arundinacea (fess-TOO-cah ah-run-dah-NAY-see-ah)

Cool season Sun or shade
Seed @ 8 – 10 lbs per 1,000 sq. ft.
Mowing ht. 2 – 4 inches

HABIT: Bunch-type grass that is planted as a winter overseeding or used in shady lawn areas.
A permanent grass or actually semi-permanent.

CULTURE: Needs fertile, well-drained soil and should be planted in the fall (Sept. – Nov.) for best results.

USES: Lawn grass in shade, overseeding.

PROBLEMS: It has to be mowed all winter, looks somewhat artificial in Texas.

NOTES: Best of the permanent winter grasses for home use. Native to Europe.
