PRONUNCIATION: FIE-cus PEW-mi-lah
TYPE: Climbing fig, Creeping fig
EVERGREEN climbing vine, Sun or shade
SPACING: 2 – 5 feet
HABIT: Small-leafed climbing vine that needs no support. Climbs by aerial roots.
CULTURE: Prefers a moist, well-drained soil and high humidity. Needs protection from winds. Sunny southern exposure is best.
USES: Climbing vine for courtyards, conservatories, garden rooms and walls in general.
PROBLEMS: Cosmetic freeze damage in severe winters here. The crazy winters in the early 2000’s where the temperature has dropped 50 degrees in 24 has done some damage.
