Crepe Mrytles
Howard discusses proper crape myrtle care, advising against the common practice of topping the trees (called crepe murder) and explaining that seed pods should be left for birds to eat. He also addresses a critical planting mistake: most crape myrtles are planted too deep with their root flares buried, when instead soil and mulch should be removed to expose the flares well above ground level.
