HABIT: Good-looking, coarse-textured foliage that has excellent orange to reddish-purple fall color. Showy white flowers in late spring to early summer. The bare stems are even attractive in winter. Native to Georgia, Mississippi, and Florida.
CULTURE: Easy to grow but likes well prepared, well drained beds best.
USES: Great understory plants. Interesting texture, spring and fall color. Accent plant.
PROBLEMS: None.
NOTES: More deciduous shrubs should be used in general, but this is one of the best.
