I have 60 peach trees and 1/4 - 1/2 of the bark has been eaten off of each tree by my goats.. I only put them in there for a short while ..so we could fix a fallen tree and fence. These are mature trees that have only been worked with for organic purposes for 2 years. The rest they were neglected and sprayed. The trunks look ok its the branches 1/4 the way up and where the trunk meets the branches.

Will they be ok during the winter.. should I paint them , or put goop on them.. ????? I am at a total loss here.. I'd hate to lose them..

thanks Brenda

If the bark is gone all the way around the branch, it will die. There is a possible cure, google for "bridge graft" that might help in some cases. I think you might prune away the branches that are completely "girdled" and watch the goats!
